Monogram of the Month: February

Oh February, another reminder that time is going by fast, and that all retail stores are banking on Valentine’s Day themed stuff. I told my boyfriend years ago that I didn’t need any of that. I’d rather have him wait a day or two to buy me some discounted Valentine’s candy. Chocolate roses and gummy hearts are the way to mine.

In honor of the most popular engagement day of the year (although Christmas and Christmas Eve are not far behind), this month’s monogram is an adorable ring dish. No, I am not engaged. Yes, this is my ring. No, it’s not real. Yes, I wear it around like an engagement ring when I don’t want to be bothered. It’s hard being a pimp.

During my Black Friday binge on GroopDealz, I snagged this petit ring dish and it is beyond adorable. The vendor is Be Blessed Creations and everything in their etsy shop is super cute!  I love to pick up things for my newly-engaged friends with their soon-to-be monogram, and I think this is so much better than a bath towel!

Best Super Bowl Ads

Ok, a super-old-lady thing is watching the Super Bowl only for the ads. Truth be told, the commercials have not been good as of late. This year especially, they try to pull at the heart strings, and it actually became super disturbing. Can’t I just get funny beer commercials??

SUPER excited for Pitch Perfect 2. Also to see Clay Matthews sing Beyonce

Walter White as a pharmacist. Because this is what I did for years.

Anything with girl power is cool enough for me. Except for those dumber older girls mocking how to do something like a girl. They are the reason we cannot trust the world. But at least the future looks good.

This commercial was definitely airing before the Super Bowl started, but the one that aired during the Super Bowl was a longer cut, so it’s still a favorite. I like the way the dog twerks.

What are some of your favorites?

WIW: Super Bowl

So, my team lost. My team lost on a pretty bad play. My team lost and then started a fight with a guy you definitely don’t want to fight with. OH WELL I got to have a little Super Bowl fun with some yummy eats and my boyfriend.

With the Virginia Tech connection with Kam Chancellor, not only was I totally for the Seahawks, I totes had to get Kam’s jersey as well!  I like watching big games with people who want the same team to win. I can get very competitive, so it’s not good for me to be watching games with the enemy. Of course, half way through, I realize my boyfriend wanted the Patriots to win. He basically wishes he could have a bro-mance with Tom Brady.

When there is any event and there is food involved, I DO NOT wear jeans. Yoga pants and stretchy leggings all the way. It was totally a good call, unlike the last play of the Seahawks offense. Did you see what I did there? Whatever, go hawks.

Easy Morning Oats

It’s become part of my morning routine to make a bowl of oatmeal before I head to the gym in the morning. It’s a little sad to know that I made a great bowl and I won’t get to eat it for about two hours. By then it’s all congealed, but it’s still pretty good! DSC00639

1/2 cup instant oats

1 cup water

1 TBSP chia seeds

1 tsp brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 banana, sliced

Heat up the oatmeal per box instructions, which is around 2 minutes. I then add the other ingredients and mix it until it’s pretty even. I love adding chia seeds because it really helps with the texture of the oatmeal. In case you’re wondering, I eat the other half of the banana before my workout to prevent muscle cramping halfway through.

As much as I want to scarf this down in the car on the way to the gym, I really cannot wait until after my workout to enjoy this bowl of goodness. Yes, I leave it in the car while I work out. Yes, my car does smell of vanilla-brown sugar-banana delight when I get in.

Make Up Monday: 2/2

STILL not accepting that it is February for the time being. For this week’s MUM, I wanted to share what I keep in my make up bag at the gym.  I use a cute Lilly make up bag from their Estee Lauder collaboration and stuff my goodies inside. That sounds terrible. DSC00633

In order of application:

1) Rimmel Fix and Perfect foundation primer

2) Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eyeshadow Base

3) Loreal Studio Secrets One-sweep eye shadow

4) Benefit They’re Real push up eyeliner

5) Bobbi Brown Corrector undereye concealer

6) Too Faced Air-Brushed BB cream

7) NARS Orgasm blush (from this mini duo) + Real Techniques brush (from this set)

8) Anastasia Brow Wiz

9) NYX matte setting spray

I am not going to do any reviews on the products, as I basically need material for the next few weeks. Since some of these are my staples, I have pretty much reviewed them already except for a few.

Sunday Smiles 2/1

Don’t even get started with me about it being February. I cannot. So my Sunday Smiles this Super Bowl Sunday is some of the funniest vids from Media Day and other Super Bowl-y events:

Marshawn Lynch’s best interview yet.

Katy Perry taking a leaf from Marshawn’s book. The interview is pretty boring, but the money is around the 9-minute mark.

Marshawn’s REAL best interview ever. Featuring Gronk
